04 Stratos 201 Pro gas tank question

Hey all, new to the forums and new Stratos owner also! I am having an issue gettin fuel to go into the tank for some reason. My guage says the tank is empty and it has shut off on recent familiarization runs, due to very little fuel sloshing in tank and not getting fuel to run. When I try to fill it, it clicks off after about $3 worth of filling. I took the seats out and am trying to remove the panels covering the gas tank, but cannot figure out how they come unattached. Any suggestions on the cause, or info on how to reveal the gas tank would be of great help! Other than this issue, Im liking this rig quite a bit!

A lot of the Stratos boats can have a similar issue when fueling. Try turning the pump nozzle upside down. Course if it won't take gas at all, you probably have a clogged or bent vent line.

Where is the vent line located and if its under the panels in the seat area would you know how to take them off? Thanks

There are screws all the way around that panel on every edge, a bunch of them. They can be sunk in and hard to see for the carpet. Filling up is a common issue with alot of boats. Turning the gas nozzle upside down and parking at the pump with the gas inlet on the high side of a slope helps. If you take the tank cover off, make sure the vent line is clear and the fill line in not kinked or collapsed.

With mine, I cannot fill it with the pump running full blast. Have to start it easy and run it by hand for a second, before you click it on auto. Then only on the first notch, maybe second if the pump is not very fast. You will get used to it. I have messed with the hoses on mine with no success.

You will also have to learn where the tank reads. Mine has 1/2 tank left when the gauge reads just below 1/4. Still have 8-9 gal left when I show empty.

Thanks for your input so far guys. If I have time after work tommorrow Ill hook it up and get it to a station to try different methods. I already took the seats out to get to the panels which I believe are covering the tank. The way it appears to me it's two panels I will have to take off. One starts around the top of the seats and bends to be a part of the rear deck, and the on is the large panel where the seats are bolted down. I took a bunch of screw out and the pieces wont budge at all. Ill try filling with your suggested methods and work on getting those panels out in the meantime. Thanks

I have the very same year boat. I turn the pump handle upside down and start flowing slowly. Gradually I increase the flow until I hear the gas starting to flow back (sound). The sound it makes just before you get cut off to reset the pump. I usually don't worry about filling it up unless I am on the CT river or on some of the big lakes up in Maine. Just a quirk I have lived with since I have owned this boat.

Took me awhile to figure mine out also. Slow filling, first notch on pump, park with your fuel intake on high side, throw a 2 x 4 in your truck and drive up on it with your trailer, this helps. My fuel gauge drops to empty when less than half tank. I was told this is common with the L tanks.
