Adding jackplate to 2005 275 ProXL

All, has anyone added a JP to their 275ProXL? If so what setback did you use and what if any gains did you see? I've got a 275 with a 90 Johnson turning a 20p raker and want a better hole shot and maybe even a little more on the top end. The prop is fresh from the shop and at WOT it is in the 5500-5600 range. On plane the cav. plate is running on the surface of the water. I can't trim it all the way up because the prop will blow out, I can only go between 3/4 and full trim to keep it biting the water. Motor is mounted on the 2nd hole from the top.

Really dont have the HP to take full advantage of a plate, but you can dial in hole shot and it will handle a little better on top end, and maybe with a perfect prop see a small gain on top end.

Thanks for the info. Do you have any suggestions as to what I can do to help with hole shot? Top end I'm not so worried about as hole shot.

A plate will help by finding the motor height sweet spot, and you can have pvs holes drilled in the raker so you can run the Merc pvs plugs. A hydro foil will surely help but their a bit ugly. A bryansfoil is about the best looking foil on the market. Look him up in the La. forum if interested.
