My son and I are new to bass boating. We bought a used Javelin 400se with a 225 Johnson engine. The trailer is a single axle unit and I notice when we are traveling the tires seem to be overloaded. The tires are fairly new and are properly inflated. I am wondering if a dual axle trailer would be better? If so, where could we find one? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Check to see if the tires are for car's. Most the time i send that they where for car's.
Trailer tire's has stronger side wall' s to keep them from doing this . Check the number to see if there a ( P ) In the number's some where ?
With the weight of your boat and motor you will want a load class C trailer tire. As said before car tires are not the best choice for a trailer tire...too much flex and they build up too much heat because the sidewalls are softer than trailer tires.
I have a Stratos 201 with a similiar single axle trailer as yours. This was my first single axle trailer. Our boats and trailer about the same. Mine does the same thing. I have brand new properly rated trailer tires. They always look a little low if you compare the looks to say normal vehicle tires. When I first got mine I always thought they were low. I started checking out other boats at the ramp similiar to ours and it was normal. So i guess as long as you have the proper tires on it, your good.
