Is the shifting gear/handle included in the motor warranty or boat warranty.
Is the shifting gear/handle included in the motor warranty or boat warranty.
I don't know what motor or what year you have. The mfg. warranty covers EVERYTHING on your motor for 3 yrs. from in service date, period.
I thought the warranties didn't cover gaskets or belts.

The controls are considered accessories and normally have a 1 year warranty if they are from BRP. Only the engine carries the 3 or 5 year warranty depending on when you bought it.
Now if the controls are another make and came with the boat, then contact the boat company or the control manufacturer to see who is responsible for replacing them

Ain't no belts on johnson or Evinrude outboards since 1967, except for the few power steering models they made. Gaskets are covered items.

Just for clarification, he posted this issue up on the Stratos boards, I directed him here for more assistance and info. His boat is new and currently in winter layup. I have suggested to him to have his dealer re-examine his shifting issues as had Sportwin. His local dealer can't find the problem as it is very intermittent. His current dealer is no longer a Stratos dealer. A valued customer needs some assitance.
