most say 3.5 under the pad. That is a starting point. on my boat i am set up like stratos recommends. jack plate even motor mounted on 3rd hole. i have a guy in my bass club that has a 2009 200xl he has it set 4in below the pad and that is good on his boat. he is running low 70's. just play around with it. hope this helps
Set it @ 3.5" to start with, and adjust up from there to find the sweet spot.

I'm currently at 2.5" below pad and still have 21psi, that's running a 26p Tempest Plus. Plan to come up another 1/4 inch and see how it runs. I know one of our members that has a 200XL is running 1.75" below and running real strong.
