    Help with Jackplate and prop

After mulling back and forth and alot of questions for Todd and Joe at CandO, I all but pulled the trigger on a new 150 ETEC (Thanks again guys for putting up with me and sorry I could'nt buy a new one. Motor funds went toward the house).

    Boat is 03' Stratos 185

Deep down really want a Yamaha HDPI, but financially it makes more sense to just keep my 150 Johnson, add a jackplate and play with props. Think I'm Going to go with a 6" plate per Todd's suggestion. Question is should I go with manual or hydro and why? Also any brands to go with or stay away from for that matter?

For prop, where shoud I start? I think I have 24 Raker right now. Looking for low to mid 60's if possible. Right now running 54 GPS w/o plate fully loaded. Thanks.

Re: Help with Jackplate and prop (MBragg8)

Hydro plates are nice if you run a lot of skinny water, and for the adjustability factor. Manual plates are fine the other 90% of the time though.

For props, a good 24 Raker, Tempest, or maybe a Fury, never ran a fury so I dont know much about how they would do on your rig. Do the plate first see if your raker will do the job before buying another prop.
