Somebody walk me thru mounting a shoot thru hull transducer...

I know I need to mount it in the bilge area...does it need to be level or just mount it flat against the hull??? And according to the instructions, I need to remove the top two layers of the hull and adhere the puck to the outer "skin" of the boat, then seal it all up with epoxy "making it watertight and structurally sound".... I think my hull is three layer. I know the top cap is. If my hull is three layer, do I have to cut a hole into the hull???

Just make sure you prep the area where you are going to place the transducer. Pick the "most level" area in the bilge.

1- If the inside of you bilge is painted remove the paint.

2- then rough up the area where you are placing the transducer. Use a course sandpaper or wire wheel to do it.

3- Clean area good. Wipe it down with alcohol or acetone.

4- I use plumber puddy and build a "pond" for the epoxy.

5- Rough up the face of the transducer. Clean it with alcohol or acetone.

6- Mix the epoxy and pour in the "pond".

7- Push the tranduce into the epoxy rotating it to force out any air trapped between the tranducer face and the hull.

8- Place a weight, brick or lead weight on the tranducer to keep it pressed tight to the hull.

9- If you have a small spot light shine it on the area, the extra heat will help the epoxy cure a little faster.

10- Wait. I think the epoxy instructions say 24hrs...

    Enjoy... Dan

I mounted the ducer...mixed the epoxy slowly so there would be no air bubbles....twisted it as I pressed down on it. Sanded the hull and ducer and cleaned them well, before I put the epoxy on. I put a weight on top of it to hold it down...... Hoping, praying iit works tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried today, she hung a good one in a brush pile but let it get off. I didn't get a nibble. Was trying a new worm color, guess they didnt want it.

The only thing I did first was go out on the lake and put a littel water in the spot to test the placement. This made sure I did not have a bad spot in the hull and it was shooting straight.
