Well, I actually did it. Drove 3.5 hours today one way today to go look at a boat. I came home pulling a 2005 195 ProXL w/ 200 Merc EFI. It's black with red and silver, hotfoot and jack plate.
Boat is in really good shape overall. One good scratch on the top cap about 3 inches long near the driver seat...other than that, just some barely noticable surface scratches. Hull is very clean...apparently the guy didn't get too close to brush nor did he run it up on the bank.
Marine shop did a compression check and came back 120 across the board. They pulled the hours report too...showed only 36 hours. I was a bit surprised about that, but the previous owner did say that it was never fished hard and mostly on small lakes where you can get end to end in 5 minutes. Hopefully it'll be a solid motor and I won't have to spend any significant money on it anytime soon.
I'm worn out from the driving and the mental/emotional stress of making a big purchase like this. I always have a really hard time with it. I'll get over it and relax and probably start enjoying it a lot before long.
