I'm guessing they glued it in there, when I bought mine it wasn't installed but it left yellow marks that to me would say some kind of heavy epoxy. Having them put a new middle seat in because I think it looks awful w/o it but it's nice not ruining the seat and using it as a step.
I also took the middle seat out of my 07 294. Mine was held in place with 3 screws which were under the front part of the seat, no glue or epoxy. I then covered that area with rubber step material.
Mine is mounted with a piano hindge on the front of the seat then it is covered up with a piece of rubber...
Took the seat out this evening. It was pretty easy. Three screws on the front of it. Once you get that out. The back of the seat is mounted with a piano hinge with seven screws. Will only take a little time to put it back in when i need it
