    Another Bomb Boom

Well I got the sad news on my 04 225HO Thursday morning after dragging it from the dealer who supposedly fixed it with a new TPS, plugs and gas/water filter. I backed it off the trailer and cranked up in eager anticipation and guess what it ran just like it did when I took it in. Fortunately there is an Evinrude dealer 2 mi. away from the ramp. I took it there for a look see and stood there while the young mechanic verified his suspicions with a compression gauge that #6 had NO compression...Duh! wonder why my dealer didn't do a compression check or take to thje lake and run it as promised. I wouldn't have taken my boat. But since I did and they couldn't put a new powerhead on that day I just bought a new 250HO............How can I describe it.....no words can express the power this thing has. I had three props with me and tried all three and it will have to be worked or maybe Mike Lohn will have a suggestion, but the 27 Tempest is a doggy out of the hole but very good on top end. Right out of the box 78.6 GPS at 5800 RPM with absolutely no chine walk and a pleasure to drive. That was on short burst and then back to civility. I have pics in the camera and I will post them tomorrow..

    Re: Another Bomb Boom (Garfish)

Which dealer did you buy your new 250HO, the dealer near the ramp or the dealer who was suppose to "repair" the old 225HO?

    Re: Another Bomb Boom (DoferGofer)

I bought it from the dealer that did the right diagnosis, the one near the ramp, I was back on the water at 2:00 they stopped everything and installed it. When it all shakes out about who is going to pay for it getting fixed they will also get a chance to re-pair it and sell it. Bomb. may take care of it all, the PH was only 15 mos old. There aren't many of the motors out yet and I'm surprised he'd sell it to me and not put it on one of his new Tritons to get his big $.

Fantastic! I am happy that all is ending well for you. The first dealer kinda/sorta done you a favor. He showed you that you needed to change dealers and showed you the way to a new motor that is making you very happy.

    Merry Christmas,

What I want to know is how did you explain that one to your better half. Any way congrats on the new motor, now that itch for the E-Tec has been taken care of.
Back to the 04 DI, it is hard to believe that the tech did not do a compression check given the symptoms. I would like to know who it was because I do not want to go there.

What did you do hit the lottery? You have a new Man Cave, and new motor? . Who was your selling dealer? And the dealer that made the mis-diagnosis? Not many dealers in the ATL area that have them yet.
That truck at the hotel had the same decals as the once that was doing the man cave is that your company? Also I noticed that your transducer is way out of the H20 for WFO running . Just curious. Hope things work out with the old DFI.

    Re: Another Bomb Boom (ChampioNman)

No I didn't hit the lottery just found some plastic that hadn't been used yet, yes it's the same truck (mine) but I had some subs do the work , the dealer is 72 Marine at Elberton he was rigging an 21X2 with one 250HO and had another in the box and since he didn't have a powerhead to sell me to get back in the TX he sold and installed the other one for me. I was in at 9AM and fishing at 2PM. I don't care where you are in the world for that kind of service that's above and beyond. He could have sold that motor on a brand new boat and made a ton more money, but he chose to help out a fisherman in a bind. This fisherman's dealer in Buford, Ga. let me get out the door after a $389 bill for TPS, plugs and gas filter. But they didn't have time to take it and water test it for me as promised. The lake is maybe 3 miles away and they never compression checked it or they would have known what was wrong. If they'd done what any other competent mech. would ie: compression check it would have been obvious, #6 had a big ole hole in it. So it cost me $18,000 plus what they took off me for the bogus repair, I asked if they were going to refund my money and his answer was "well we put the TPS in it, you'll have to talk to Lee about that. "

    Re: Another Bomb Boom (Garfish)

Andy and company sell a bunch of BRP motors and claim to be the world's largest Triton Dealer. Duane is a good tech and I'm glad they helped you out. I was just there on the 7th and didn't see a 250HO in the place, what a difference a week makes. Good luck with your new motor and congrats on your purchase, and better luck with the DFI I'm sure we won't hear the end of this.

I will also say that Andy and his gang do treat ya right. Know dwayne and andy and they have always given me help and dealer cost prices on parts for my older motors. I just got my 225HO from him and it is a awesome motor and at a really good price. his wrenches are still not as =good on carb motors as fred but others yes. great place to do business. Steve

I talked to Andy this afternoon, he said Dwayne said that BRP was sending a new PH and they were handling it. So looks like I'll have something to sell with a factory warranty..........G
