Each guage uses a different source to make it operate. You speedometer uses water to make it work. The trim guage receives a signal from a trim sender that is usually mounted on the motor bracket.
My 94 Rude had the speedo pickup in the lower unit. Look for a small 1/8" hole in the front clogged with wood/debris. Still not really sure if they put them in there for the speedo or just to clog up with trashYou can take a 1/8 or 7/64 drill bit (by hand) and clean it out - just be careful doing so. Trim gauge could be the gauge or the sensor at the motor. Somebody should be able to tell you how to check that.

I know where the trim gauge on the motor mount is. It is there......Do i need to check power for either of them? I am not sure if they draw power.

I want to say that it uses resistance to determine the trim angle for the gauge. Try posting in the Rude forum. One of those guys will know for sure.
