    91 johnson 175 silverstar

    i have a 91 johnson 175 . the upper part of the engine flexes from the mount to the crank case are there rubber bushings between the bolts and the crankcase?there is alot of play. i just installed a hotfoot and was testing it out. while looking at the out board when on plane and getting on and off the throttle the outboard would tilt back and fourth that is when i noticed the problem. is it expencive to fix?
    i have a few part numbers for the parts that i think i need part number...0434613,,0335508,,0335851....thx for your help,matt

    You will have to pull your power head to replace the upper mounts. I didn't check your part numbers but you do have to pull the head.

    And you should see an RPM increase once they are replaced too.

    thx guys for the help iam going to let a shop do the work. i have not called a shop to find out how much.what are the cost for something like this?it will be tuff with christmas and all. when you say power head does that mean taking off the outboard from the jackplate?about how much more rpm will i gain. thx,matt

    okay i talked to a shop they want 250.00 to pull power head and 180.00 x2 for both motor mounts up top. i think the mounts are to high.
    am i wrong? thx,matt

    Why would the RPM's increase just from replacing the motor mounts?

    If you want a solid, you need to get on Scream and Fly and find Jenksam and PM him. He can hook you up on solids I believe.

    When they go bad, they affect the ability of the motor to lift the boat in some cases.

    You will be fine go with the stock mounts, I know Sam very well and like I said you are safe.
