Looking at a 1997 Javelin 369 SE

I am looking at a 1997 Javelin 369 SE with a 115 Evinrude. New trolling motor and batteries. If I could get it for under $4000 would that be a good price? He says it runs good, could use a tune-up, hesitation on full throttle. What should I be concerned with? Thanks!

Make sure you get a compression check on the motor. Want all cylinders running within 10% of each other. May also want to check out the fluid in the lower unit to make sure there is no water in it. Have a certified mechanic look it over - may cost you a few dollars, but you will know going into it what you have on your hands.

As far as under $4,000.....given the economy - I have to imagine there is always room to negotiate. You may want to look at the Boats4Sale page here for anything comparable to see if the price is right or not. Also - there are other internet sites out there which sell boats over the net that could also give you a reference point on the price.

Yes, got it for $3000. Compression is good, new tires, batteries, trolling motor, depth finder. Doing some clean up and electrical, should be good to go in another couple of weeks, once the weather warms up a bit.

I just bought a 96 369SE yesterday. There are few things I need to do right off the bat with mine. Do you have any pictures of yours. It may help with my setup/cleanup/repairs! I mayhave some other questions for you if you don't mind. It's harder to find 369se owners.

I have some pictures, but I am not good at posting them. I have one posted on a thread under Javelin Owners, the subject is "I need help with wiring, it is a mess of spegatti" or something like that.
I have been all through mine, just finished replacing the steering (11 ft cable). A lot of work on the electrical, but everything is working now. Let me know what pics you would like to see, might be easier to communicate via email. You can reach me at mrober11@ford.com
