ok im going to repower my 2001 20ss Extreme it has a 225ho ficht it lost number 5 cyl
what one will be faster?any problems with my 2 choices?just looking for some input before i dump alot of money?anyone know about how fast it might go with these motors?
i know the etec is a bolt up and go with the merc i got to buy controls/gadges about extra 1000 bucks
250xs or a 225ho etec i can get both about the same price

The 250XS is a racing engine - 3yr warranty at the max. ETEC HO - 5 yr warranty. The 250XS will be a faster engine. Don't know which to recommend for that hull. As for me, I'd probably get the ETEC on the Stratos. ETEC is quiet and they'll never hear you idling through the no wake zone.

You mentioned 250XS...Did you mean to say 225 Pro XS since that is the rating for your boat or are you wanting to go over rated?
ok now i didnt even look at the rating....i just assumed with all the new 20 ft boat have 250's on them mine was rated up to 250...
I really like the 225 EtecHO my self, i have been running them for the last three years and as said above they are very quite and also fast. Wish you were a little closer i have a real good deal on some 225 HO they are 08 models.
If you would consider a2009 200HO etec delivered any where in the country, Roland Martin Marine Center has one for $9600
