    20 ss livewell frustrations

Anyone have problems with their livewells overflowing? I have a 2000 20SS and have been having continuous frustrations with the livewells. Fished a tournament on Saturday when my bilge suddenly started and would not quite. I looked in the bilge and water was pouring out from where the top of the livewell is glassed in. Open the livewell to find water a good two inches above the overflow. Anyone know what would cause this? I had the livewell set on auto with the main aerator running. Had to put it on recirculate the rest of the day, not good when the water temp is 88. This is the second time this has happened. Any suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.

Check or flush your overflow sounds like it is stopped up.

Have you checked for a blockage? I know that sounds simple but a few years ago I had the same problem and could not figure it out. What it ended up being was a cap from one of the kids drinks that found its way into the fitting of the drain. It was a perfect fit inside and it had 3 small holes in it so some water would pass but still would overflow, and being clear I did not see it inside the fitting until I disassembled the whole thing. Good luck I know how frustrating this can be.

I am going to check the overflow line again this weekend. When this happened to me before I put the hose in it and water flowed right out. It has got to be something to do with that though. Rather frustrating but I can't think of anything else. The worst part is I only had one keeper in the box. That just adds fuel to the fire.

My 2002 Magnum did the same thing. I had a rubber cap come off the latch lid that found it's way into the overflow, had to take the lines off to find it. Took the other rubber cap off the other lid so I didn't have a repeat of this problem.

Are you saying the manual lever was on auto? Or the switch on the dash was in auto?

the lever to control auto or recirc was in the auto position. once the water was drained down I put it on recirc and as I would have expected the problem went away. No fresh water being pumped in it just recirculated the water already in there. It has got to be something stuck in the overflow valve. Hopefully it will be easy to take off the hose and flush it but I am sure it is not too easy as the connection is up under the livewell.

Seperate subject but what kind of speeds do you see with direct injection h.o. on the 20ss hull. It has got to be quick.

I usually just run the air system when I'm trying to keep fish , not the main pumps so I cant tell you about the extra water. I have had mine overflow when I leave the pump in manual instead of auto like when filling them the first time or when changing water in the middle of the day. Have you had trouble keeping fish alive running the air instead of the pumps?

I haven't got to air it out yet, when it gets to about 68-69 it becomes unctrollable. read my other post ( anyone looking at Startos read this first )
