    1995 javelin 379

i'm considering buying a friend's 1995 javelin 379. does anyone else out there have this boat or have experience with this boat?

also, any idea how much this puppy weighs (and is that with a motor -- 150 hp johnson in this case).? i need to figure if i can tow it with my subaru outback, which has a 2000# towing capacity.

    thanks!!!!

    -perry-

oh yeah ... i guess i should include the trailer weight.

    Re: 1995 javelin 379 (froteur)

I had a 389, which is only a foot or so longer than the 379. The 389 loaded with gear and gas would probably push close to 3200-3300 lbs. A 379 is not going to be much lighter than that. And I definitely wouldn't hook it to the back of the Outback.

I have a 96 379te, and i love it. I am running a 150 fast strike, and this little puppy will flat out RUN!. I get 65mph/gps with 2 people and tx. load.

    Re: 1995 javelin 379 (froteur)

I got a 379Se and it is a great boat. Hull weight according to my manual is 1300 pounds +- 100 pounds. Motor is 375ish, batteries are 45ish each, I have 3, plus about 300 pounds of stuff. Add the trailer and I am sure its close to 3000 pounds if not more.

I tow mine with a tundra. I wouldn't be as worried about pulling it with a Subbie as much as I would stopping it.

Still working on setup but ran 63.3 gps with a load last tourney. If it was just me, I suspect I would see upper 60's. I am shooting for 72 gps.

    Have a 1995 377DC Jav.

This past season was equipped with a 175 FastStrike. Topped out at 70mph. Amazing, easy riding boat! Love the look and feel.

This year going to be running an 06' DI 150.

Haul the boat with either an F150 or Dodge Ram... so i have no idea on hauling troubles...

    Re: (Cody87)

thank you all for your responses. keep them coming.

i think i solved my tow rig issue. my boss has more cars than he knows what to do with. among them is a trailblazer. going to ask him tomorrow, if i can borrow it from time. shouldn't be an issue as i've borrowed other cars before.

    Re: 1995 javelin 379 (froteur)

I have 94 389te great boat, best handling boat I have ran. Also IMO mid 90's javelins are one of the best looking boats built. And if you look at the hull of the mid 90s they look very similar to the new stratos hulls. The 379 is narrower than the 389 and I have never been in a 379, but I feel you will enjoy it.

    Re: 1995 javelin 379 (froteur)

thanks for all of the well wishes!!

i was wondering if any one had any sage advice regarding this boat. any pearls of wisdom as to the pluses and minuses. things i should particularly pay attention to, good and bad. anything i should watch out for?

also, does anyone have a "soft copy" of the owner's manual?

    thanks again to you all.

    Re: 1995 javelin 379 (froteur)

I have the sales brochure for all the models for 96. What do you want to know?

It is is not a T edition, I would add a recirculating pump in the livewell with a timer. My aerator just fills the livewell up and it drains out into the bilge. I have never had a dead fish, until this boat. Added a recirculating pump with a timer switch, and its all good.

Also I had to pull the tank and get rid of the anti-syphon valve. I kept getting a check engine alarm at WOT.

I love my boat, it is unbelievable in rough water for its size.

Do you have the brochures in an electronic form? I wouldn't mind having a copy of one for my 96 389 SDC.

    Re: 1995 javelin 379 (Lockjaw)

i don't have any specific questions. i just thought it would be a good idea to have a manual.

i'm not sure if it is the "T" edition. i'll ask tomorrow. if not, i'll pay heed to your livewell advice.

    thanks.
