1998 268 Fish and Ski Two quick questions

I have been looking into purchasing a jackplate for the last month or so. Does anyone know if the steering cables will be long enough to a 6" plate.
I posted about a month ago on the setup board and Todd suggested a 4" plate would be enough (adjustability more important than setback), but the 6" are more available used. Would the extra 2" hurt?

Nothing wrong with the 6"......it'll do fine.

The cables.....another story. Pull them and see if there's any slack.

Just ordered a 5" EZ Lift from Pitstop Marine, If I need the cables I will need the cables, hopefully not.
