    Broken shifter cable!

I have a 02 20xl Prostar with A 225 RudeRam and HotFoot my shifter cable broke or came off. How do you take the shifter off? Do you have to reach around the back to get to a bolt and if you do what size is it?
    Thanks

the shifter cable is not attached to the hot foot only the throttle cable is. the shifter is in the part next to the seat. ok now that said depends on what kind of foot you have but the best way is to unscrew from the floor and then you can see what broke, if it is like mine you have a small plastic piece that broke you will need to replace the cable to the engine and then adjust your idle. not a super hard job but a p....in...... t.........a. new cable is about 70 bucks depending on the length if I remmeber correctly.

is a slight pain to rerun but you chould be able to do it unhook from the engine and tie the rope to the end, pull thru and bring new one along, hook up and make sure you have the shifter in the right position, not more than an hour or so work.

if you bought the boat new you may have the guide that came with the motor and it will show you. also it can be a pain as the last screw usually falls into the side of the boat so make sure you have the panel under the console put before you try it. or better yet get a tech to do it and then you know it is done right . or post on the rude boards and they will help you. just remember to post model and serial number of the motor.
