150 Johnson faststrike how difficult is it to rebuild the carbs?

    My serial # is: G03661876

The motor starts up fine. I run it around. at the end of the trip. It stalls when trailering? u have a fuel/water separator installed. Any suggestions? Thanks! I am by no means a mechanic. Thanks.

    Update.

I had the plugs changed and the carbs adjusted. It ran better at first but still stalled on the trailering.

Next time out, it started up and idled well but had problems starting later in the day and was terrible trying to put on the trailer.

The mechanic said that it could be that the carbs need to be rebuilt. He told me to reverse the last adjustment and to see what happens. If there still are problems, could it be the carbs?

My brother offered to help and he said there are kits available.

It it too big of a job to tackle myself? If not are there some links to show how it is done?

    Sorry so long.

    Thanks in advance.

Not really hard, but u will need to check all the bowls and bodies for warpage, and make sure everything is clean...

Having compressed air is a must, in my humble opinion. I use it and brake cleaner to clean carbs.

I doubt its hard. What year is your engine?

Scott, it is not hard to do at all. Your not far from us. If you have any questions about doing it feel free to give us a call. We also have the carb kits on the shelf. We can ship them to you if you do not want to take the trip down to us. We also have a 60 degree powerhead on a stand and would be happy to show you how to remove your carbs.

    Bill,

How much are the kits? How long will it take? The motor is a 1995.

Set aside 1 hour per carb, worst part is getting the rear carb body gasket set right, if you compress it you can lean out the cylinder, but just use a touch of gasket sealer on the corners you'll be OK. And don't try and roll the O rings.
