I was just wondering if anyone knows what the difference between the 284 and the 285 is. I have a 94 284 pro and from all the 285's I've seen in that year range I cant see any difference.

2022 Xpress H17 - Yamaha SHO 90
The 284 is a 17"10" boat and 150 rated. The 285 is I believe 18'6" and rated for a 175. There is also some hull design differences with the 285 a newer design at that time. I had a 284 and that is what I rememeber from when I purchased it.
Thanks, I figured it must be something like that I've never put a tape on them I just knew eyeballing them you couldnt tell much of a difference

The 284 is a little shorter and wider. The 285 will carry an extra 25 ponies. I havn't been in a 285 but I feel the 284 fishes bigger than it is. I have not tested her in rough water.
Mine handles Ky lake pretty good and it can get nasty quick on that lake.
