More Info on a Javelin 389T

Still looking at this 91 Javelin and curious if anyone has any feedback. Here’s the details:

91 Javelin 389T “Team Factory”
Johnson 175hp Fast Strike, 3 blade prop
Looks like a 5” Jack plate
Hotfoot
Lorance up front and in the bow (I don’t have the model numbers)
Tandem trailer with drum brakes

Took it for a ride tonight. Nice ride, but seemed to have difficulty coming up on plane. 3 guys in the boat with fishing gear. Ran at 5000rpm trimmed up. I wonder if the jack plate is not in the correct position or something else. Motor ran great and started with no problem after sitting for some time. I have the SN for the motor and hull if that would help.

My old 389 had some difficulty getting on plane with 3 in the summer heat. Mine didn't have a jackplate. Running a heavy load like that a 4 blade Renegade prop would work better. You'd lose a little on top end, but hole shot would be much better.

The only thing I have to compare it to is my buddies 06 Triton 196 w/ a 200hp Merc. He's like me drive it and it seemed to get on plane with no issues. We did have 3 Big guys (prob 700lbs) plus all his fishing gear still in the boat. Water temp is about 87 degrees. Haven’t convinced the wife I need a bass boat for the right price yet, but this could be the one – 1st bass boat other than my Jonboat.
