    Re: Venom 18 (bothomas)

believe its 17'6", might be 17'9"

I have the same boat with a 115 on it and love it. I get a little over 52mph with a raker prop, though I turn to many rpms. His is got a 150, would guess it would run mid 60's.

Does this boat have any wood or 100% composite?

Mine has a sticker that says all composite. Believe they stopped adding wood in 98 or 99.

Though finding information on the 2000 models is hard since that was the year that omc folded and genmar took over. Stratos and javelin models were built in the same place if I have my history correct in the 2000 model year and up to genmar phasing out javelin.

Love mine. Haven't gotten wet yet running in constant tube wake rollers, which makes me happy. Always amazed at just how big a wake a boat going slow with a 2 or three person tube puts off, and unfortunately that seems to be really popular around here.

Wind caused rough water it slides over very nicely, just slow down for the cross wakes made by the 50 tube ski boats in a 500 acre area.

Overall I'm quite pleased with the fishability of mine.

I have a 379Se, which looks to be the same at 17'9". Its a nice boat and with a 150 moves out well. I get really good gas mileage too. Compared to my 200 looper, this one makes gas. HAHA

Properly set these hulls are supposed to run real close to 70 on GPS. They ride nice, handle very well, and tow easy.

    Re: Venom 18 (Lockjaw)

My 1996 379TE w/ 150 fast strike will gps at 68 mph with just me. With two people and all gear about 65. No trouble from my boat at all. I love it, and wished they still made it.
