    1990 Stratos 201 Pro

I just bought a 1990 201 Pro dual console and my hole shot is terrible. I have a 1988 GT 200 Johnson that pushed my 21 ft Shadow out of the hole great, but this boat doesn't want to come out of the hole. Top end is about 50. I have a 6 inch turbo jack plate. I am not sure if there is too much motor or not enough motor in the water. The prop is a 20 Raker. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. How deep should my cavitation plate be?

Your prop sounds small. I used to run the same boat and had a 25 pitch shooter. Holeshot wasn't bad but wasn't awesome either. It would run about 62-64 or so...

Sounds like your prop is to small. I have a 1989 201 pro with a 225 johnson and I am running a 24 raker. gps 62-64. My jackplate is about a 6 incher. I am probably going to a 25 gade. to get my rpms down. What rpms are you running?

if you want a better holeshot and speed in the mid 60's go with a tempest 25 with the adj plugs. I have one and it does great my hole shot is awesome. I am using the smallest holes you should get the full kit and see which combo works best for you.

    Re: 1990 Stratos 201 Pro (Bigb201)

I was running about 5500 when I had it in the water this past weekend. I didn't have it in the water long. I was trying to make sure I had the engine set up properly. When the tanks were empty, the boat come out of the hole ok, but with full tanks of gas. It was bad. I am going to see about a new jack plate and new prop. I hope that will help. I am going to measure the pad, prop distance tonight

I'll let you put my 24p raker on it and try it out if you want to meet me in Mt. Juliet one evening.

Sounds like your engine height is not right as well as your prop. My 89 201 with a 27 shooter would do 63 gps at 5500 rpms with the propshaft 3 1/2 inches below the pad. I was just started to get it set up when a piston leaned out. And that 63mph was loaded.

Try a 25 trophy or Gade at 3.5. That should be a solid starting point.

    Re: 1990 Stratos 201 Pro (Kerry201pro)

I have a 1989 201 with a 1988 200. I have a 6" plate and run a 25 Renegade. Set your plate at about 3-1/4" below pad and the Renegade should pop you right up and get you at least 55-60 mph.
