I run a 2004 Stratos 201. My engine is a 2004 rude 225 ho di. I had my motor winterized and on my 1st trip I noticed first my rpm didn't work and then when it did a few seconds later it read 1000-1500 off when it should have been reading 5500 with my setup. I checked for loose connections at the tach and looked for loose connections under the cover for the motor. Can anyone tell me what could cause this?
I'm thinking it's the tach on the inside.
There's no doubt in my mind that they are a piece of crap! Or maybe some of them are a piece of crap. Anyway, I just sent an email to Faria asking for some guidance with mine. It's been sticking for over a year and I'm finally tired of it.
The bad thing is it says "STRATOS" on the gauge, making it more difficult to replace.
See if LEI makes an interface cable for your motor. I hooked my 225hpdi to my lowrance net and it reads everything about the motor on the 332c's screen. It's pretty cool. The only thing that I cannot get to work right is the engine trim... It always reads 124%? Other then that everything you need to know about the engine is displayed.
Faria factory is about 6 miles from me. I will contact them if they are the maker etc. I also touched base with C&O Marine Parts dept. maybe they can tell me what a new one goes for.
Call Stratos and tell them that you tach is sticking and they will probably send you a new one without any questions asked. Thats what I did when mine was sticking.
