    1991 Stratos 201 Pro

Hi guys, thinking about buying a 1991 Stratos 201 Pro for sale. Was 1991 a good year, or is that getting too old?

Any reviews would be great, thanks.

Thats a great boat. mine is an 88 and i believe the hulls are identical.. not the fastest boat on the water but a great fishing platform.. i think the storage could have been thought out a little better and if you have fishing partners they will LOVE the big back deck...

just check her out thuroughly before buying and let us know how it goes

It is a great boat, but like said before they are not the fastest. It is a solid boat and does great on the water. You will be happy.

    Hey Trevor,
I have a 1990 201, love the boat. As said before not the fastest but an awesome boat. Check her out thoroughly before you buy but if she's solid you won't be sorry.

I just bought a 93 and from the looks of it, these are pretty tough boats and built well.

    Hi guys,

Well it sounds like it is a great bassin boat, and built like a tank!

It is teamed up with a 2000 Johnson 225, and a hyd jack plate. Do you still expect it to be sluggish? What speeds would it do?

The 201's look like they have a "V" shaped hull. Are they comparable in big water?

    Thanks for the talk!

They have an EXCELLENT rough water ride. The 225 Johnson is an excellent motor. It will not win any fuel mileage wars, but it should be reliable. You will see, depending on your load, 68-72. That boat is heavy and with that kind of age on it, may have some dampness in the hull that could cause it to weigh a little more than normal. Check out the transom really good and look for stress points. If the price is good, and everything checks out, jump on it and enjoy.

I have the exact same rig with 200xp. A rock solid rig, that is why ou will see so many older 201's around. If engine checks out you will be fine. You wont out run any Bullet's but if it get rough, you can set your coffeee mug in th efloor and rock and roll without spilling a drop. Excellent rough water boat. I love mine, no complaints. Kerry

Funny you should mention the transom. The owner said that he had the transom redone at a marine shop and they had the hole top of the boat off. He said he may have the receipts.

Here is a picture of the boat.

    68-72, that's sweet! I have a 1991 16' Foxcraft, with a 1992 Yamaha 85, which does 40mph.

See how recent it was done and make sure it was done at a reputable shop. If it was then you should be in good shape.

Kerry you may be correct about this but you could certainly run one over and shred it into itsy bitsy pieces if you caught one unaware :D
