Javelin 400TE Set up

Hey guys, I have a 1997 Javelin 400 TE with a 225 evinrude vindicator on it. I am running a 24 raker at 5500 rpms. Gps is 64.7 with 1 person and very light load. I know this boat is capable of more than that. It does not have a jackplate on it. Actually when I got the boat the dealer who sold it to me said that b/c of the hull design on it that a jackplate would do it absolutley no good. I don't know a lot about setting the boat up obviously but any help would be appreciated. Also what is the max rpms I can turn on this motor. I'm going to experiment with some props and any advice would be appreciated on how to make this boat run better.

Look at this link... there are a lot of guys running the same setup and getting a better top end.... with a jackplate.... you may need to look into a 6 inch plate. Do you have a prop to pad measurement and a water pressure gauge? These two numbers will help some of the others to diagnose your problem.
