    294XL

I'm window shopping for my next boat. Have been looking through the web on the descriptions of the 294XL ... I like everything about the boat except that it states the rod box can only take up to 7' rods! Is this true?? I own swimbait rods of 7'11" and that could be a problem!! Also the 200XL have 7'6" rod boxes??

    Re: 294XL (5littleones)

Take one of your rods and go check them out. You'll be surprised. I believe the way that is measured is how far the carpet goes up in the front. You can put longer rods than that in there. The tips of the rods will just be farther up in the nose of the boat.

    Re: 294XL (1niceStratos)

My 18 fter suposedly had a 7 ft box. I can fit a 1 piece 7-6 flipping stick in there with room to spare. May be a good idea to try before you buy like someone said above.

I am considering going to Lithium batteries (4) on my 2015 Stratos 294 XL. Does anyone know if the diminshed weight in the stern with replacing 4 27 lead-acid batteries with the lighter lithiums will affect the performance of the boat? I run a 25 pitch Mercury Fury prop upon delivery because it ran better with it. I am interested in knowing for before I make the investment in all-lithium batteries.

My 2006 fits 8 ft. no problem with the tubes out. I don't know if it would be different with the tubes in as I never had them in.
