    New owner with Questions.

I just bought a 2003 strato 20XL Prostar. I think my hole shot is terrible. The prop on the 225 Evirude Ram is a 14 1/2 x 28 Raker. This seems over pitched. Can anybody help? Also, does this motor need premium gas or regular? The plaquard on the motor says 87 +/-2.

Need more Info. to help with set-up.
    What rpm's are you running?
    Do you have a jackplate?
Is it a raker or raker 2?
I would run regular gas with today's gas prices wont hurt a thing.

Yes I have a hydrolic jack plate. I am running about 5100 rpm WOT. It is a regular raker. THanks

I would go to a 26 pitch prop.

yep, too much prop if your jacked up and only turning 5100, I would either try a 26 raker 2 or maybe a 27 trophy, good luck

Thanks for the replies. I will try to test a 26" raker and see if I can get her closer to about 5800 rpms. I think the hole shot would be better. Is it possible to work a 28" down to a 26" prop?
