    2005 Johnson 150 Reliability

I was wondering what you guys thought of the Johnson 150 outboards made after BRP picked them up. I have always owner Merc's and now own a 2005 Johnson 150 with a 24" Raker on a Stratos 285xl DC. What kind of reliability and performance can I expect from this motor. Everything I have heard about the motors has been very positive. Any info would be great...

Re: 2005 Johnson 150 Reliability (lyurick)

    Welcome to the boards.

The 150 Johnson is a solid and reliable motor. I had an '04 on a 285 Pro XL and really liked it. You will be very pleased with the motor (until you ride in an E-TEC powered boat). The Johnson is a carb'd motor, so it will not be as smooth, quiet, and efficient as a new E-TEC. But, if you've never had the new technology you won't miss it. You will get years of enjoyment out of the Johnson. Take care of it.
