I got a question about my trailer. I am wondering what the reason is why the bow roller is on a bracket that moves up and down. It is being held up by a spring so that it doesn't fall down when the boat is not on the trailer.
I have looked at other bass boats and the bow roller is always fixed on the winch post. Would there be a benifit to having it welded in the up position so that the spring could be removed and it wouldn't fall down anymore?

mine is the same way
it takes some gettin used to and it works pretty well i dont just run my boat all the way up i just get it started on the trailer with the bracket down a little and then hook up the strap and crank it on cause it can get the boat into the crank not that i have ever done that before
The idea behind the roller setup is so that when you launch the boat, the roller folds toward the trailer so it doesn't tear up the trolling motor and the front-end of the boat. It's a pretty good idea, but it does have a few draw backs. Just make sure you have the boat winched up tight so the roller arm doesn't move when trailering.
