    Johnson tilt and Trim

I need to replace seal in center tilt cylinder on 200 HP 1990 Johnson. How in the heck do you drive the tilt cylinder pin out? I believe I have reached a neutral position so shaft is not loaded but the pin will not budge. I would hate to pull motor from the boat

Re: Johnson tilt and Trim (coork)

secure your motor using the trailering bracket. On the ends of the pin there are circlips remove either side or both. Get a large punch and commence to banging with a small sledge hammer. it will come out. This repair is best done on the bench so you may want to remove the complete unit from the boat. 2 bolt on each side hold the unit in. You will alson need to remove the trim motors cable from the motor.
