    Garmin 7610 software update

    I have one 7610 and 2-7612 units I'm at the 8.0 software so was gonna update to the 9.2 downloaded update to computer sent it to the SD card I had in laptop shows it's on the card when in computer but once I put it in the unit there's nothing on the card what's the trick to this

    How did you send it to the SD card?
    My wife asks if I'm going to fish every day. I can't fish every day. Some days I might be sick.

    Yeah, you need to RUN the file you downloaded with the sd card in the computer. That will copy the correct files to the sd card. Then stick that sd card in the MFD.

    If all the mfd's are networked via Ethernet, they will all update at once. If you have a Panoptix xducer, radar, etc, be sure its plugged in and powered on as well.

    Be aware this up-date takes a LONG time.

    Approximately how long is a long time? I am wanting to update my 7610's as well...

    If they are all networked, the process will get them all once you start the update.
    My wife asks if I'm going to fish every day. I can't fish every day. Some days I might be sick.

    When I spoke with the Garmin support people, they suggested it was always best to update the units individually rather than while all connected to the network. I disconnect everything but the power and update each unit alone.

    i always updated all units and all network items at the same time. so much easier

    Interesting. Thats the first time Ive heard that and it is contradictory to the instructions on the website.
