    Garmin 73sv scroll speed

I have a pr of Garmin 73sv graphs on my boat. 1 mted at console with a transom mt transducer and the other mted at bow with a TM mted transducer. My boat idling spd with big motor is 3-3.25mph. The scroll spd options are Fast, Med, Slow, Ultrascroll and auto. I would like objects to show immediately after transducer passes over. What spd scroll would you recommend. I use the bow mted graph to "see" directly below transducer real time. Spd with trolling motor is less than 1 mph. What scroll spd should this graph be set on. Thank you!

Tech support would probably recommend AUTO. I know they don't recommend Ultrascroll. Generally the faster the boat is moving the faster you would want the scrolling. If you're not going to use AUTO, I'd recommend experimenting with Fast and Med for the transom. I generally run Fast on the transom and trolling motor, but I'm just looking for suspended fish, not structure.

Like Lwinchester said, you will need to experiment to see what works best for you, but scroll speed doesnt really effect when you see something on the screen.

The instant a target falls within the transducer cone, it will start to show up on the screen at the far right and begin to scroll to the left.

Increasing the scroll speed will stretch the targets out and make them longer. Faster scroll speeds will make them more obvious sooner than slow speeds because of that stretching and things move to the left faster. You will be able to tell if its just random noise or a target sooner at faster speeds - at the cost of distorted targets that are stretched out more than they should be.

Slower scroll speeds will make them shorter and more compact, but targets will start to show up on the screen at the exact same time no matter what the scroll speed is set to.

If you are wanting to see your jig move up and down, then it makes no difference. Fast or slow, you will see the jig move up and down as soon as you move it. That assumes the jig is within the cone and showing up at all.

Fast scroll speeds will make for stretched out zig zags and slow scroll speeds will make for compressed, closer together zig zags, but both will move up and down at the same speed and at the same time.

I prefer auto for my scroll speed. On my 7610 it seems to work very well in adjusting the scroll speed to match the boat speed. That results in targets/arches being consistent in size even with variations on boat speed.
