Shift control ?

I have a 1987 Skeeter Starfire 175, I need to replace my throttle cable but I have no idea how to get the control box out, I don't have the white box that mounts on the outside, all that’s showing on my boat is the shift handle. Help please.

What kind of motor due you have. You are probably going to have to post a picture so that people can help you out. Never seen one with just the handle sticking out.

Skeet'r89, your boat has to be the same as mine, I have a 85HP Johnson, almost every bass boat I've ever seen only have the handle showing, you don't see the shift or throttle.

My boat has a Merc on it. The shift and throttle linkage connect inside of the bottom portion of the control. Mine has bolts which hold it the the side of the boat. These would have to be removed to pull the control from the side of the boat. This would get you to the end of the control cables.

My boat is different, all my cables and the control box are in the gunnel, only the shift handle is on the outside.
