Any body have any helpful hints on removing the old cable. I having a hard time getting it back through the tube in front of the motor. Also I cant figure out how to get the control shift lever off the boat. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just unhook the old cable at the motor and tie zip tie it from moving parts....that way if your new hotfoot cable ever fails down the road (lake) you have a back up...
Thanks, with a search on here I found in Sherms tips thats how he did his. I did have to pull it out of the tube going from the boat to the motor because there was not room for both in the tube.
Now Im trying to figure out how to hood up the blinker trim. Cant find the wires under the dash to splice into.
Thats why I need to remove the shift lever.
