Adding backup lights to trailer

Has anyone added backup lights to their trailer? Since moving into our new house I am having a time at night getting backed into my drive because of low light conditions at the end of the drive and tinted windows. I was looking under my trailer this weekend and noticed that since I have disc brakes on it I already have the blue wire for the reverse/brake lockout ran back and stubbed out to the area by my drivers side tail light. So I've come up with the idea to add reverse lights and am curious to see if anyone else has done this to their Skeeters and where they placed them. I've already ordered a pair of the sealed clear oval lights with grommets and the brackes to mount them, I just havent decided where would be the best place to mount them.

It's optional....atleast it was on my 07'

Your joking right, if not that is just wrong they should have back up lights on all trailers

Definitely NOT joking. That's like having the lighted "SKEETER" cut outs on the side of the trailer. They are optional too. If you buy a boat off the lot, you just get whatever the dealer had ordered. It's not a big deal for me. I would like to have back up lights occassionally though. I'm interested in how some others may have added them too.

Mines a '05 SX190, not even sure backup lights are even an option on the SX's.

Do like I did, add some fog lights to the back of your truck....
get some low profile ones....they are cheap and easy to install.

Think they were standard on ZX trailers this year. Mine has the oval shaped LED back up lights, they do help. Had several comments from a few envious owners of other boat brands.

I have had 3 ZX trailers 98, 99, 2000 and they all came with back up lights and the cut out Skeeter Lighted I guess they started doing this as a option after or maybe I just missed it on the 98 and 99 the 2000 I got used so I'm not to sure on that 1

+ 1 had some small oval running lights mounted under the bumper on my Yukon and they will light up any driveway or ramp. wal-mart for about 30 bucks. installed switch under the dash in truck.

The guys that have back up lights, is the trailer tube frame or channel frame? Some on here had a channel frame and made cutouts to fit the oval lights in there and it looked custom. Not sure how the tube would do, plus would it be deep enough for the light and would you run the wire in the frame?

If you take that illegal window tint off you would be able to see.

I had already thought about that, but not sure the tube is big enough to do a cutout. It sure would make it look more OEM, but I would also be a little afraid that it might alter the structural strength of it too.

I had planned to add them to my trailer also.....I had noticed that some of the new Nitro boats had surface mounted LED backup lights on the trailer. I had talked to a dealer about getting them but have since sold my boat. you could wire them up to the big plug if you have a newer pickup since it has a place for back up lights

I went to Bass Cat's web site and ordered a set of waterproof back up lights. They work great.

I ordered all the stuff off etrailer.com a couple of weeks ago, just havent had the time to complete the project. I worked on it a couple of nights ago and was able to get the drivers side light mounted, I still need to do the other side. I ended up mounting it in a non-traditional location, its recessed up under the trailer and out of site. I had myself talked into doing some cutting and making it look like the ZX's from the factory, but the way the SX trailers are made the tubing wasnt wide enough and a bracing for a bunk would of been in the way. So then I thought about having them just hang down but decided against this because it was going to stand out some and not look very OEM. I literally took about 2 hours one night studying how I was going to mount them. The way I have decided to mount them you dont see them unless they are on, only draw back is they dont shine back as far but they really illuminate the ground for about 10' or so behind the tires and thats what I was really needing to be able to find the edges of my concrete drive. When I get done with the project I will post some pics, we are supposed to get rain all week from Gustav so I am sure I'm going to have some idle time to work on it.

Not picking on you at all, but I pulled my 07 Dealer Manual and looked under standard features for the ZX200 and this is what it states for the trailer.
"Skeeter Single Axle Tube Trailer with Disc brakes, Spare Tire w/Carrier, Ratchet Tie Downs, Back-up Lights, Skeeter Cutouts, Chrome Wheels, and Torsion Axle."

Sounds like some one told you a "Fib".

However, It wasn't Standard in 06, and it does look as if you have an early 07 with the 06 stripes, so you may have an 06 "style" trailer too.
