    Rod tiedown upgrade.

Somehow some fishing line managed to cut through one of my rod tiedown straps as it trailled behind the boat at 60 MPH. Seeing that the bungee material from the factory was already begining to fray a little, I looked for a better way. I got some Polyurethane bungee material and the hooks that go with it.

    Turned out pretty good IMO.

Hey Neil, looks great. Where did you get the bungee material? My factory tie downs are frayed as well and I have been lookin to change them.

    Thanks, Deon.

Did you replace the bungee on your rod ramp.If so how did you get to it?

    Re: Rod tiedown upgrade. (nkybuck)

I haven't replaced with the same stuff Neil used, but I did have to replace my partner ramp bungee. To do it, I had to remove the ramp and "snake" my arm up inside the gunwale. I did find out later that if I remove the liner from my port side compartment (behind passenger seat), it's much easier to get to the anchor pt for the bungee.

    Re: Rod tiedown upgrade. (deer0373)

For the record, I ordered my bungee material and hooks from McMaster-Carr industrial supply. That is the only place I was able to find it sold by the foot. Serached the net for several hours.

I havent had to do the passenger ramp. That tiedown doesnt get used near as much as the two on the front deck. It is available in several colors .

    Re: Rod tiedown upgrade. (JJohnSind)

Thanks to the info on this thread I ordered my cord and clips from reefscuba and installed them last night on my '94 200zx. I ordered 10' of 1/4" cord and 10 clips so I would have some spares. I ended up with about 10 " more cord than I needed but that's good as it's easier to thread through and then cut off. The anchor point for my rod ramp is the same point for the port deck strap real easy to reach through the storage under the rod ramp and connect. I think it took me 15 minutes to do all three
