please someone save me im going crazy.
I have a 99 zx185c, my source of frustration is the remote control, shifter, throttle control or whatever you want to call it. it is the flush mount. It is becoming more and more difficult to move. I do have a hot foot and it is fine. I have disconnected the cables and the shifter on the motor moves fin no troubles at all so i figure it has to be the cables. i can push the center rubber part of the shifter and it moves freely..i think it releases the cable tension or something.....i have looked into buying new cables and they are inexpensive, i just need to know the length...and there in-lies the problem,... how on gods green earth do you get to the back of the flush mount shifter to take off cables, put new ones in, adjust anything .. do i take off the handle and feed it out through the front, under the dash, i cant even reach it! plus all the cables will still be attached. or do i take out the back storage bin and go that way,..there's no way to reach it that way...i have noticed on the newer models they have a panel you can just take off. im scared that one day out on the lake the cable will break, its getting that stiff, and hard to move..I've tried everything i can, i am truly lost..I've called the nearest dealer to me which is about an hour away and old him of the problem and he said "ughhhh beats me, id have to look at it, maybe take the cap off to get to it!!!" someone please come to my rescue i cant even find a schematic of the shifter to know what i have to do when i finally do get to it. im almost to the point of cutting my own hole and fabricating a panel to go back in....
please help as im sure you can tell im at my wits end...
thanks..
