    Access to the bilge pump

I own a 1996 ZX180 and have to get to my bilge pump. I couldn't get to it from the hole between the livewells or from behind the gas tank. It seems that my only option is to remove the brackets holding down the gas tank and sliding the tank forward. Has anyone had this experience before?

Yes and it helps to make sure that most of the gas is gone .

I found out that the hose broke off the pump with the plastic piece still inside. I am thinking about just leaving the old pump there and mounting a new one a little further back so it will be easier to get to next time. Does this sound like a good idea?

I was wondering about that. It seems like the old one is screwed in but the directions for the new pump say to mount it on a board first. I think I will glue it.

I know of a guy that mounted a pump one time...Went to the lake to go fishing and couldn't get the boat off the trailer.......he had run the screws through the bottom of the boat into the bunks...I was laughing so hard I had to sit down.....
