Has any one ever replaced the rod straps(bungee cord) with a different rod strap on the front deck? Have replaced the bungee twice and tired of it. Looking to replace it with one like is on the Triton's. Any help would be great.

Not sure what triton uses (straps maybe?) but several of us have replaced the metal hooks with a plastic ones made by a 3rd party company (helps avoid chipped paint from a quicky retracted cord). I can't remember their name but you could request free samples of the hooks from their website...

I don't think the straps like Triton uses will fit because they are too tall to fit. I replaced the bungee on a boat I sold to my Brother in Law with a little larger diameter bungee, and it has held up for 2 years.

use your same eye hook on boat now and just screw the end piece on deck by gunnel.
I took mine and cut them off just short of the eye the the hook goes in and tied a double knot in the end so they wouldn't pull throught the hull. Have had them this way for about a year a half and not wear whatsoever. Also this way allows enough pressure to hold rods, but will not slingshot should it slip out of your hand. Basically same principal as the rubber bungees that screw on deck, but you still have the ability to push it in out of your way if you want.
It can be done I took the bungee cord Pieces of Chit out of mine and put in the Triton Style Straps. You have to do alittle bit of modifying on the gunnel and it does take alittle time and patience, but it can be done and you wont be sorry I havent and it is better 100% than the stock or after market.IM me if you need any pointers or help or Questions.
