    1986 GT Johnson 200??

What is a 1986 GT Johnson 200 worth. The compression is good in all cylinders. I just want a ballpark range. Thanks Joe

    Re: 1986 GT Johnson 200?? (98Ranger461)

Value all depends on condition. If it is like new it would be worth 3K or more but my guess is that it is not like new. By like new I mean the gearcase and powerhead not only look new but only has a few hours on them (verifiable hours)

So assuming that it is a clean engine with decent hours you might get 2K for it.

If it looks like hell then maybe $500.

My guess is that you will get about $1500 for it.

You have to understand that the 86 GT200 is a 2.7 ltr. block. It does not have finger ports, and on all but the lightest boats it will be a real pig out of the hole.

In modified form the 2.7 can be turned into a real monster, we're talking way over 300 hp. It can make an easy 300 on pump gas with the right person porting and boring it to 3.0.

    Hope this helps.

Re: 1986 GT Johnson 200?? (Neveredge)

Its on a tunnel hull hydrasport right now but the transom is rotted out. It has the motor,4 blade prop, jackplate, hot foot, 2 depth finders, omc trolling motor, 3 like new batteries, tandem trailer. A buddy of mine owns it and says he needs some money and would take 600.00 for all. I was looking into maybe making some money on selling it all seperate, and junking the boat. Or maybe putting the 200 on my boat, mine is only rated for a 175 and is 18'9" Ranger461. The hydrasport would shit and get before the transom rotted. Thanks Joe

My guess is there is more wrong with it than he is telling you, unless he is stupid and has never heard of ebay.

BTW, post some pics of the tunnel hydrasport. Someone might be interested in the boat. Not to many of them made.

I know this guy personally, I almost bought this boat 2 1/2 years ago but came across my Ranger instead. I will post some pics when they are available. Joe

I had a 200 on a boat rated for 175. Pulled off the 200 deal on the back and replaced it with a 150 and never looked back.

No one EVER questioned it either. However doing so is not legal.

Shawn if he went to midbores it ought to run ok on a heavier boat, right?

Re: 1986 GT Johnson 200?? (Lockjaw)

The mid bores might help low end a little bit but it would hurt the big end alot.

The main reason the 2.7s are dogs on the bottom is because of the bridged exhaust port. It has nearly 30% more area than a 225HO does. This is great if you want to build a race motor but on a bass boat it isn't the best combination.
