I have a 1984 Skeeter SS-Fisherman with a 1984 75 merc. on it with a 4 year old rebuild. I paid $2900 for the boat 3 years ago and it has served me well.
But now it needs carpet and I intend on doing it in the next few months. Underneath the carpet on the forward casting deck appears to be plywood that is coated in fiberglass and resin. The problem is that the floor on the casting deck is soft and "crunchy" Which I can only assume to mean that it needs to be redone. Would it be possible to just take out the front deck and leave the rest of the floor intact? Also could I just put a layer of resin and cloth over the existing deck to make it stronger?

I would like to upgrade to a bigger more tournament friendly with a bigger front deck, but that will have to wait a couple of years as money is tight right now, so that is not possible. Plans for the future I guess.............
