    Water won't drain out?

Bought a 93 ZX175 and got it home yesterday. Inside the back of the boat was nasty so I washed it out. Question is how does the water on the outside of the transom stiffeners get to the drain? One side seems to have a hole in the stiffener that allow some of the water to get to the drain but I sure don't see one on the otherside? There is a low point on both sides of the stiffeners that I assume are there to collect the water. If someone can tell me if there stiffeners have drain holes I would appreciat it.

    Thanks

I call them transom stiffeners. Not sure what the correct thing to call them would be. They are supports that run fom the transom forward and are fiberglassed in. Looks like there should be holes drilled in at the bottom to allow water to pass thru to get to the well area and drain out? Hope that makes sense?

    Thanks

What you are talking about are called Knee braces.

Yes those are the ones! Should there be some sort of drain through them?

    Thanks

I was trying to post a pic from the restoration page, but I haven't figured out how to do that. Check out my pics on the resto page (Skeet'r 89 transom rebuild pics) There were no holes in the knee braces to drain water off the top of the inner floor. Lowering the tongue a bit while washing out would allow the water to run forward and off of the area in question, then raise the tongue and most of the water will be able to drain into the bilge.

I understand what you are saying but I would think in a normal storage position all water should be able to get to the well and exit the boat. Even when the boat is level some what stays on the outside of the knee braces and has no way to get out? The higher the bow the more water stands on the outside of the braces. Just doesn't make sense to me.
