Guys - I am a new boat owner - well - new owner of a used boat. I am not the most technical in the world, so please forgive me as I try to describe what happened to me yesterday.
Seemed I always needed to use the neutral start where I went about 50% throttle. Made sure RPMs stayed at/below 2000. Did not matter how hot or how cold the engine was - had to use the neutral start at 50% throttle.
Had one problem that took some time to try and work through. After running it wide open for quite a while (probably 5-10 minutes), brought it down to an idle and in the neutral position. When I tried to accelerate into gear, it died - and kept dying. I checked the fuel bulb and that seemed fine. Had to keep using the neutral throttle start - started no problem. Had it in neutral idling for quite a while (2-3 minutes) and it was running fine - but everytime I tried to put it into gear, it died. Each time I was easing into forward - the only way I got it to move was to actually hammer it down to about 50% throttle, then I was able to move.
I did pull the spark plugs - there is a Champion plug in there - # QL77JC4. They appeared to look fine. I was told when I bought it they worked on the carb.
Any ideas?
