Electrical problem on 05 ZX 250

I noticed today while running my livewell pumps, it would completely cut my power. I mean everything. It would also sometimes turn everything on including my bilge pumps, and would not shut off even after unplugging the main wires from under the dash and I had to disconnect the main wire on the battery. I narrowed it down to the port side pump, by trial and error turning things on one at a time and letting them run for a few minutes. It works fine while on recir, but if the pump is on to fill the livewell, something screws with the system. All the lights would flicker on the console also occasionally..that is the only switch that has a problem, the other livewell pump-recir works fine, as well as the bilge pumps , they turn off and on with no glitches...
Any ideas, cause there isn't a dealer within a hundred miles of me that sells Skeeters.....
    Any suggestions are appreciated.....

Do you have a digital control panel? If so, you may want to contact Skeeter direct as there have been issues with them shorting out internally. I think this may be your problem. Skeeter's number is (903) 984-0541.

I was having similar problems until I checked the wireing leading to all my pumps (livewell and bilge). Skeeter didn't make 1 single waterproof connection down there. I redid all my connections with watertight connections and haven't had a problem since. Just my $.02

Help out those of us that aren't all that up to speed with electrical work. How do you make a waterproof electrical connection at the terminal? I'd think using shrink wrap would make it waterproof to join two wires, but am not sure about using connectors.

What I usually do is to seal each connector/joint/terminal with RTV Silicone. If your boat is not new, you can either clean the old connection or cut it out and make a new one, then seal it. Heat-Shrink tubing is NOT waterproof by the way!
