I want a new Z520

Ok guys I am gonna pull the trigger on a new ranger 2011 or 2012 Z520. I have been talking with Cabelas and they have quoted some pretty good prices! Trying to decide on what motor to put on the back, and if I should go hummingbird or lowrance electronics. Anyone know of any stellar deals out there or any advice on graphs/motor choices. I am probably gonna order ther boat for the colors I want. I have been fishing out of a 08 Z520 with a 250 etech HO.

Well as for electronics....i have 2 lowrance hds 8 with structure scan and 2 weeks ago i put a 1198 Humminbird on also.......Get the Bird!!!!!!

If you get different size graphs, but the big one up front. Easier to stay on waypoints and run the split screen (map/sonar or down imaging)

Go with whatever motor is the cheapest and/or longest warranty. They all are good.

They are all good engines. They all can and will break. The best engine is the one that suits the buyer and where and when it can be worked on when problems arise. The SHO is no different than any other engine. It has had problems also....................................RR

If it was me, I would get the Yamaha SHO. I have a friend that has a Z521 with the SHO. The sho has gobs of power and is very quiet.Its the way of the future. As far as graphs I like Lowrance. Good luck with what ever you get and please post some pictures.

Guys, at the Ranger dealer meeting the SHO did not run as fast or get as good as MPG? Why are you guys reccomending them? Do you have one? Im lost as i had friends on the Yam pro staff, they all switched back to Merc because of Flw and none miss the SHO...What gives?

Another vote for Pete and the gang up the road from you at Angler's Port (BBC sponsor too). I just ordered my Z518 from them and they were great to deal with. Pete really helped me through the ordering process, there are a million things you'll never think to think of and they help with all of those.

I went with factory installed Gen2 HDS7s, SonicHub and a Mercury 200 ProXS. Got in on the 5 year warranty and added couple more. LOVE everything about it. Pete and the team were very knowledgable about the options, unlike a big box store that I talked to. It makes a difference to buy from fishermen and not sales people.

+1 And definetely put the largest possible unit up front on the deck. Much easier to see the screens especially when split between map/contour lines and sonar/down imaging.
