Would love to see a pic inside the boat. Looks sharp![]()
John made it for me Tom - I will get some pics up as soon as I get it installed in a couple of days. It's designed to fit just aft of the area where the lazy Susan (RTS ha ha) was.

I really tried to like the "Rotating Tackle System" in the front compartment of my 721, but I couldn't. While it's an incredible idea/concept and I loved the idea of being able to use an un-usable space, I found the rotisserie flimsy, difficult to use, and the ball bearing system on the bottom rusts beyond belief with the least bit of moisture.
I removed the RTS and will plumb a new drain hole under the seat pedestal holes as others have done. I contacted John Horn with thebaitbar.com and gave him the measurements for a new tackle system for the aft portion of the front compartment. It holds (10) 3600-series Plano boxes and still allows access to the space in front where the RTS was. I plan to keep infrequently used items like vacuum-sealed extra clothes, rain suit, Q-beam, etc. up there.
The rack fits PERFECTLY - the boxes fit well and are secure and I couldn't be happier. If you order one of these from John, it will come with 6 bolts protruding through one side of the rack about 1/2" or so. These bolts are capped with a vinyl cover (red in the pics). You have two options for installing this rack in the compartment. (1) You can use it as designed/intended and orient the bolts downward. The idea with this setup is that the vinyl should skid very little on the fiberglass and more or less keep the rack in place. The other benefit to this setup is that it makes the rack a little deeper and provides more support for the boxes. (2) However, I decided to flip the rack over and use the flat surfaces on the bottom to affix industrial strength velcro. I was concerned about the bolts wearing through the vinyl and I did not want to drill any holes. The velcro works great - the racks and boxes are SOLID.
You could also ask John to install nylon bolts and you could just trim them off with a razor knife.
Because the rack fits so perfectly in the space, installation is a little tricky - you need to remove the HDPE (cutting board material) panel in between the main tackle locker and the front one. You may have to disassemble the rack to get it in, then reassemble once in the space. It's not a big deal and you'll be happy you did it.

What are the dimensions of this rack and what does this rack cost?
Thanks for the pics, but I don't think that would work on my boat. I have a 618 and don't have the extra lid to get to the RTS. Great setupIf I could just see what was in those boxes

I make these racks custom, so I can make it any size. They run about $6 per box slot,
I like the concept, but I'd like to see something that maybe slid under the deck and left the open section to the rear. I use that open space for my rainsuit most of the time and that way you could do both.
Any ideas?

Which could be done with a drawer slide mounted to each side. The box narrows toward the front, so you'd have to build the rack part uniformly square, and then build the slides out away from the sides of the box as they come toward the back.
The other option would be to put a slide on one side (left for instance), and mount the box to it. You could support the right hand side with a small 'wheel' mounted to the front and the back to allow the box to 'roll' as you pull it toward the back. The box would need to be built to the dimensions of the front portion of the storage box. Pretty easy concept if I had a boat to do it on.![]()
What's that patent thing....![]()
