That is one sweet rod, but I'm sure I would post that here. Your dad would be so backed up with orders with the guys here he might think he was at Tullahoma, TN.But it's still a sweet looking rod.

It's a Mudhole MHX MB873, which is what they refer to as a magnum bass rod. I'm going to use it for Carolina rigs and a secondary flipping stick.
I like the Mudhole and Rainshadow blanks and have a bunch of them. I have been getting them made with microguides, but since I'll likely be throwing this one with heavy braid, I decided against it this time. This is also the first time in awhile I've had one made with a cork handle. I usually opt for the foam or a flocked grip.
He also uses St. Croix and North Fork for people who like the high end stuff.

He's usually backed up, since he has a full time job in addition to his rod making business/hobby. I just wanted to share something the phamily might like to see.![]()
One day I'm going to get him to teach me how to make them. The problem is, he lives 220 miles away in GA and I don't have time to sit down for a lesson.

Very nice rods! I have seen them in person, and fished with one. Phoenix logo is a nice touch!
Charlie, I also build rods as a hobby. Why don't you want to use the micros with braid? I have a frgo rod that I use braid in exclusively and love it. The added casting distance is great. I also use the MHX blanks. They make an awesome rod. Does your pops use the split reel seats(Pac Bay Minima)?
Give it a try, you'll love the micros for anything up to 25lb Flouro and 65lb braid. Just can't run connecting knots through them.
He normally uses Fugi exposed blank seats, but he has made quite a few with the split seats.
I love micros too, but when the vegetation isn't so thick, or I'm flipping docks, I use a 12lb flouro leader tied with a uni to uni. Otherwise, i'd have micros on everything!
I can agree with that. Double uni knots don't pass through #4 micros very well but 25lb flouro runs right through it. If I'm using braid, it's only for baits that I can tie direct, like frogs or flipping heavy cover. Otherwise, I use straight flouro. Your pops makes a noce rod.
