89 Ethanol free fuel and seafoam

I located a place near me where they sell ethanol free 89 fuel. Should I use it and should I continue to use seafoam and Lucas oil safeguard

Need to see if 89 is recommended for that engine, higher octane is not necessarily a good thing if not. My Opti runs like crap on 89 non-ethanol. It won't hurt to use the additives either way..

Don't use seafoam in a fuel injected motor, it's tends to screw up the injectors. I used it some on my 2000 Ficht and it caused the injectors to stick open. May even have been the cause it blew. 89 is not needed and it can handle the 10% ethanol.

Evinrude 2+4 and Evinrude XD100 oil. Many of us use Starbrite Startron to help neutralize the ethanol.

tdt91, i don't understand why you are trying to tell people not to use seafoam, maybe you had a problem with it but i think it's a good product as i've been using it in my 2008 E-TEC HO 150 since the first day i bought it and have had zero problems.

It's your motor, put in it what you want. What does Evinrude tell you to use?

Never owning a boat especially a DI outboard, I don't want to screw this up. If it's not really going to work then I'll skip the seafoam for now.

My motor runs the best on 89 octane 10% ethanol, treated with Star Tron and Evinrude Carbon Guard. I have experimented with every kind of fuel, available to me.

87 Non Ethanol from Road Ranger at a much higher price but came out of same hose as ethanol fuel.
87 Ethanol 10%. Runs ok when you fill up but motor looses rpm if you run it the following week without a top off.
91 non ethanol. Motor sputters and revs up and down at idle. Runs okay at speed, but you can hear the motor just doesn't like it.

Had a 2001 225 Rude Ram that I ran seafoam every fall to winterize. Sold it last year still had all original injectors and even the original Lightning lower unit. Worked at a NAPA store for over 30 years sold lots of seafoam for boat motors , small engines and even recommended by Chevrolet and Ford local dealers. Never had a problem caused by seafoam. Local Evinrude dealer even recommended it if he was out of 2+4.

And 1000 guys who never use a drop of Sea Foam (or any other additive) in their Evinrude engines without a lick of trouble.

I guess we can all agree that we use "some" kinda of treatment. I filled up my tanks today and used regular 87 and put in Lucas oil safeguard and Evinrude 2+4. I think this is good for now

I still have carburator engines since 1985 never used additive's and never had any problems. All these tv shows say it is not the ethanol that causes problems it is the the other additives they put in the gas that cause problems. Hard to know what to think? I think the big key is fresh gas, don't let gas sit in the tank for months.

The biggest reason I use seafoam is for a fuel stabilizer. Up north we have to winterize and fuel needs to be stabilized and seafoam is one of the best for that. My boat sits from late October to early March with 30 to 40 gallons of fuel and seafoam run through the system before it's put away for winter.
