    move motor up on jackplate?

So I'm moving my motor up from 5" below pad to 3.5". When I last ran it in December (and still the only time), I was turning 6200 rpm with a 24 Trophy, decent holeshot.

What can I expect from moving the motor up? Will the rpms increase? I have a 26 Trophy I am considering throwing on to bring the rpms down to 5800 but am concerned the holeshot with a 26 will be awful. Maybe a Bryan's foil with the 26?

I've heard a 25 Trophy is the way to go so I could sell one of my current props and buy a 25.

If you were me, what would you do?

    Thanks!

Your rpm will raise as you raise the motor. You may need to go as high as a 26 or 27 the three blades work well with that boat also. A well worked tempest is a great prop for your setup furies are nice also probly the best out of the box but just a little damage and they will drop dramatically the tempests are a little more forgiving it seems but they need to be modified they are a little untrue ussually out of the box.

Also try to keep the rpm below 6100 on that motor they are notorious for oil pump failure above 6100 they have a plastic cam that breaks and it all over. Keep the r's down and you will be OK.

I bet the boat runs better, I would expect it to run best around 2.5" below the pad

Thanks guys. My oil injection is removed and I didn't push 6200 for long. I think the 26 should be about right for rpms so I'll give it a try and see how it works out.

You will be fine runnin it higher rpm since your oil injection is removed that motor develops power nicely at the higher rpm. 6200-6400 should be no probem.

Re: move motor up on jackplate? (chillywillie)

I have same boat, different motor tho. I did exact same thing last year, had to move to a different jackplate to get motor up to 3" below pad. I'm Running either a 26 RakerII (great prop) or a 27 tempest plus. I prefer the raker, but since you aren't OMC, I would try the tempest for sure.

Also a Razor is supposed to run well....thats my next prop is a 25 or 26 Razor 3
